It’s not all discussion as The Way Forward group show off their sporting skills, starting with a spot of archery! With hard hats firmly on, next up is bridge building, where team spirit is at its very finest. Finally, the challengers must face, wait for it…. The Wall- a mega drop zip liner contraption that only the bravest of braves can complete!

Part two of “The Way Forward” July meeting sees the group create discussion topics, an activity designed to identify a variety of issues that former patients are struggling with now treatment is over. With a range of different topics being raised, such as nutrition, survivorship guilt and education, the group aim to reach solutions to both the physical and emotional problems faced after cancer.

As part of the ‘Way Forward’ scheme, designed to aid former cancer patients identify and discuss various issues that can arise post treatment, here we meet a number of people who all share their experiences of diagnosis and describe what it is like to now be in remission. Through various teambuilding activities, the group get to know each other, including their hobbies and interests and what makes them individual.

We follow the lively Cambridge Crew as they take part in a series of events, including this years brilliant FYSOT and a number of music shenanigans at the Royal Albert Hall, including a performance from Noel Gallagher and a music workshop.

Raising money for the TCT Addenbrookes Appeal, to see the construction of a brand new teenage unit at Addenbrookes hospital, Nick introduces us to the Carlton Celebrity Cricket Match, a charity fundraiser that saw two teams, with the addition of a few famous faces, battle it out on the cricket field. We also learn of the progress of Cambridge’s new unit, with work having officially started, much to the delight of everyone involved in the continuous fundraising for the appeal.

It’s a combination you wouldn’t think would work together, but as this video highlights, energy levels permitting, a bit of gentle exercise during chemotherapy can have a wide range of benefits. With many reasons for keeping active, including motivation, boredom and improving muscle after treatment, former patients share their experiences of how to balance keeping fit whilst receiving treatment. Also highlighted by patients is the need for fitness advice from doctors and physiotherapists as a way of understanding more about the relationship between exercise and chemo.

With the wide range of scarves and headgear readily available in a whole host of different colours, sizes and shapes, it can be hard to know what and even how to use them when covering up. Model Steph, along with the brilliant instruction and advice from knowledgeable professional Carly, demonstrates a variety of successful ways to wear scarves and Buffs, providing fashionable and practical tips to ensure you remain comfortable and stylish during your treatment.

A group of former patients reflect on their time with cancer, covering a wide range of issues, including religion, fertility, family and returning back to normality once treatment is over. Now being able to look back on various moments during their journeys, many of the teenagers agree having cancer has changed the way they view life and affected the way they tackle present everyday issues.

After previously hearing from Anna and Donna and their experiences on Ward 94, we get a tour around the place in question along with fellow patient Ed. As well as getting a sneaky peak at some of the fantastic facilities and well designed layout, we hear from some of the staff members on the ward, including Clinical Nurse Specialist Sally and Youth Support Co-ordinator Carrie who play vital roles in the daily running of the ward, going the extra mile to ensure teenagers remain happy and comfortable in their surroundings.

Raybans, aviators, oversized, there’s every type of sunnie you could wish to find as everyone, (even animals!) dons their favourite shades and does just what it says on the tin…. rock them!

Here we are introduced to Anna and Donna, who are currently both receiving treatment and take time out to share their experiences with cancer. Diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia last September, Australian born Anna received four rounds of chemo before relapsing two and a half months later and is currently awaiting a bone marrow transplant. Donna, who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, received numerous sessions of chemo, resulting in her femur bone being removed and replaced with prosthesis. Talking about the facilities available on Ward 94, where they are being treated, they praise the wide range of activities and hobbies available to participate in, including a newsletter, where they are free to write whatever they like.

Patients, family members and staff give their trusted opinions on the brand new teenage ward in Leeds. With a general feeling of peacefulness, a laid back and fun atmosphere, as well as a host of brilliant activities organised and a cool and contemporary colour scheme, the new unit has gone down a storm with everyone using it.

Young people across the globe, from Australia to the United Kingdom, come together and state the international charter of rights for young people with cancer. Covering a wide range of issues involved in the treatment, prevention and cure of teenage cancer, this film highlights the important information every young person facing treatment is entitled to.

Here we meet a father and son duo that share their story and experiences of living with cancer. Diagnosed with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma on the 23 December 2009, James describes the process of being treated and how much of a difference it made to be around teenagers he had a lot in common with. James’s father describes the impact the news had on the family and how difficult it was to adjust to the huge change in their lives. Explaining the dark moments the family experienced together, he talks about how they managed to stick together and focus on the light at the end of the tunnel in a bid to finally return to normality, with James’s positive and upbeat attitude helping everyone stay strong.

Here we meet Zack Hagan and family, who describe what it’s like to live with cancer as a family. First diagnosed with bone cancer when he was just ten, Zack was placed on a children’s ward and began treatment straight away. Explaining the downside to being on a children’s unit, Zack states how he would have preferred to have been with teenagers and have a wider choice of games other than “Teletubbies Revenge”! Now fourteen and having been re-diagnosed in February, Zack’s mum explains how it has had a big impact on the family, remaining strong however due to the positive, infectious attitude Zack displays as well as the benefit of being surrounded by fantastic new facilities and a strong support network.

There’s a host of big names in the building as Newcastle open their brand new doors for the first time and officially open their state of the art Teenage Unit. Famous faces including Roger Daltrey, The Duchess of York and X Factor champion Joe McElderry all make an appearance, greeting staff members and young patients on the ward and listening to their stories of diagnosis, as well as celebrating the positive changes the new ward will bring to the lives of many of Newcastle’s teenagers.

Taken from footage filmed whilst Olly was still receiving treatment, this is part 1 of The Jolly Olly Diaries- tracking the refurbishment of Olly’s beloved boat, ready for his big sea adventure, embarking in May 2011. With many hours of hard labour and love being put into the project, the challenge is no easy one, with even the smallest jobs  towards finishing the boat taking a great deal of time and effort.

Since completing treatment for Leukemia, Olly has had a busy time, getting involved in many projects and even making an appearance on the coveted GMTV sofa! Sharing his inspirational and incredible story with everyone, Olly talks of his plans to sail the boat he bought just before his transplant, ‘Jolly Olly’ , around the British coastline single-handedly. In May 2011, Olly will start from Ipswich and head up the coast, stopping at various ports to raise awareness and funds as a thank you for the help and support he has received from Anthony Nolan.

With many new Teenage and Young Adult Units being opened all across the country, this film charts the success of each ward and also highlights the positive effect each unit has had on many teenagers. We hear from a host of young people and hospital staff, all giving their reasons towards why the opening of these units have brought about such a beneficial change and how they are improving many aspects concerning the treatment process.

A tour of Clatterbridge’s brand new Teenage and Young Adult Unit, equipped with everything young patients need to be treated comfortably and in an environment that feels open, contemporary and provides teenagers with all the usual fantastic facilities and opportunities.

This one speaks for itself really. Looks like someone missed out on bringing the United Kingdom a Eurovision victory!

Sunday 28^th March saw the last music workshop take place, with an X Factor themed send off, including the JLS boys performing and Diana Vickers and Lemar supporting. The final session sees the group giving a performance of ‘Phantom Footsteps’.

It’s a random and humorous introduction in to the world of Zack Hagan, where he shows us, in his own unique and creative way, how treatment has affected him, as well as demonstrating how to effectively enjoy every last bit of yogurt one pot can offer!

It’s Noel’s second night at the Royal Albert Hall, this time supported by Plan B. The music workshops are in full creative swing, with the gang performing the appropriately titled ‘Shine’.

Next to perform on his first night at the Royal Albert Hall, was Noel Gallagher, supported by The Courteeners. With another artist comes another workshop, and this time it’s a brilliant performance of a song titled ‘Cause I’m Messed Up’.

Wednesday 24^th March saw Suede perform at the Royal Albert Hall, supported by These New Puritans. Behind the scenes, there’s another fantastic music workshop too, with everyone joining in for a performance of “Live Life Now”.

Jimmy Carr is at his satirical best as he introduces Teenage Cancer Trust’s Music Workshop, which took place on the 23rd March, starting with a comedy night. It’s a creative fusion of instruments and vocals as a selection of teenagers come together and make music alongside some well known faces, including star of the Mighty Boosh, Noel Fielding.

We catch up with Steph as she hosts a “Swishing Party”- a night of entertainment and fashion where everyone swaps old clothes, all whilst raising money for Clic Sargent, the charity her Mum and brother are running the London Marathon for, and one that has been extremely beneficial during Steph’s treatment. Feeling under the weather with a cough and cold, Steph explains the frustration it has caused her, due to it affecting when she can receive her latest chemo treatment.

With the weekend drawing to a close, everyone reflects on their time at FYSOT, looking back on some of the most memorable, hilarious and emotional moments of the conference and anticipating the arrival of 2011, when it can happen all over again!

Elly is a vision of pink as she takes to the boxing ring and shows us just how tough she can be! Through a series of powerful photographs, we see how far Elly has progressed since her diagnosis with Leukemia. By the end, ding ding ding, it’s Elly 1, Cancer 0!

A selection of young people take to the stage to discuss and inform members of the conference of TCT’s new campaign for change- a scheme that will see the opening of many more new TCT units across the country. Talking about the beliefs and values of the charity, alongside the many positive changes and benefits they have brought to thousands of teenagers with cancer, the team also discuss problems, due to a number of political and financial factors, that TCT could potentially face. To ensure these units are built, the panel invite all young people to get involved within the campaign, spread the word and make sure that everyone’s voices are heard.

It’s the last night at Find Your Sense of Tumour 2010 and everyone is out in force to complete what has been an uplifting, fun, emotional and jam-packed weekend. With a bit of ABBA to start the night off, there’s yet more costume changes as everyone sets out to prove who has the biggest flares… and the biggest dance moves! Next, time for a musical acoustic set, which gets everyone singing along and rounding off the weekend in true FYSOT style.

Part 4 of Steph’s video diary sees her back in hospital after contracting a rare E-Coli infection, a complication which has meant her line has had to be taken out and is now nervously awaiting a new one to be put in. Although fed up to be back in hospital again, Steph explains how glad she is to be feeling quite well in herself and luckily has enough energy to provide us with an MTV style Crib viewing of her hospital room. Forget limited edition, exotic Lamborghini’s, leftover curry plates are where it’s at on Steph’s tour!

We catch up with Fay as she updates us on what she’s been up to since her last video. Now in remission, Fay explains how happy she is to have her life back and talks about the many exciting plans she has for the next few months, including a charity fundraiser and a holiday to Spain. Having just returned from a brilliant weekend at this year’s FYSOT, Fay introduces us to yet another cuddly toy… this time a screeching monkey called Minnie!

In preparation for TCT’s mass charity participation event on Friday 14^th May, a selection of budding musicians take to the microphones, shades firmly on and tell you exactly what to do… rock your shades!

Big Beat are back once more to end FYSOT’ 10 in true rhythmic style. With everyone in the audience getting involved too, it’s well and truly a group effort, creating a finale to remember and sending everyone out with a bang!

An emotional and uplifting finale for members of FYSOT as they are up on their feet, arms in the air acknowledging the true champions they all are.

It’s been a little while since we’ve heard from Claire, but she’s back, 16 months into remission, with an update on all the exciting things she’s been getting up to. Back at Uni now, Claire explains how good it feels to be getting involved in lots of different activities, including volunteering with CLIC Sargent and attending FYSOT to work alongside the JTTV crew. Claire’s even trying her hand at interviewing, as she talks to her Uncle Rody about his upcoming trip to Mont Kilimanjaro and all the fundraising he’s been working tirelessly on.

A very popular and regular appearance at FYSOT conference’s, Professor Sir Mike Richards returns for another highly informative discussion, covering topics such as the NHS, the research being conducted into teenage cancers and what is being done to improve problems within the system. Before proceedings can kick off however, Queen Morgan is on the case, to give Sir Mike the proper “FYSOT Knighting” he deserves!

It’s David Passfield…interviewing David Passfield as he reveals his split persona and shares his experience of being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (in both clay and human form). With his interview glasses on and questions at the ready, we hear all about David’s diagnosis and consequent treatment, due to finish in October, and how he feels about nearing the end of a hugely impacting time in his life.

Dustbin lids at the ready, it’s a non-stop musical extravaganza as innovative rhythm company Big Beat take to the stage to give members of the conference a selection of weird and wonderful toe tapping tunes to feast on!

Sue Morgan delivers a highly informative talk on new ways for young patients to discover more about their cancer through studying its appearance more closely. Relating her findings to the needs and necessary requirements all young cancer patients have, Sue discusses her research into how teenagers feel about their cancer, what they think it might look like and whether seeing it would help them understand more about what was happening to them.

Sisters Sarah and Michelle Hampton take to the stage to share their story with the audience, not only providing inspiration and hope for fellow young people, but also addressing the power of sisterhood during a devastating and life changing time in their lives. Sarah describes that moment, when, at a young age it was discovered she had Dilated cardiomyopathy, consequently meaning she needed a new heart. Later on, this initial complication led to the diagnosis of cancer aged 12; a situation that both sisters share from their own unique perspective, describing, in detail, the effect such news can have on two siblings.

A question and answer session inviting members of the audience to ask ‘Halo’ choreographer De- Napoli Clarke alongside Development Director Kathy Williams a whole host of questions about his inspiring and life changing story.

A unique and original live performance of ‘Halo’, giving members of FYSOT the opportunity to view the inspiring biographical solo piece of work, created by dancer De-Napoli Clarke. The choreographed routine documents a major event in his life, when an unprovoked attack saw his neck broken. Tracking the dancer’s pathway to recovery, the routine provides viewers with an insight into the trauma and heartache of being prevented from pursuing his passion and ultimately, how he overcame it.

The victorious ‘Birmingham Bulls’ are out in force as we follow their enjoyable time at FYSOT. From befriending swans to busting some serious moves on the dance floor (and everything in between!), the Brummie crowd know how to have a good time. It looks as if Cheryl’s not the only one that need be worried, you better move over too Mr. Cowell, you’ve got some serious competition in the form of a strictly Birmingham judging panel… no region is safe!

Hosting yet another dazzling ball, Luisa and her mum work their magic again as they organise a charity night in aid of a brand new teenage unit, currently in development at Addenbrookes Hospital. After all her hard work, Luisa’s mum’s voice has picked a very unfortunate time to go missing, leaving Luisa to deliver her speech, describing the effect teenage cancer can have on a family and the benefit the new units make to the lives of the young people affected.

As the weekend draws to an end, members of FYSOT ’10 give their verdict on how its all gone, praising the positivity and enthusiasm of the audience and highlighting the many successful and informative talks that covered a wide range of relevant issues. Along with many others, motivational speaker Sean Swarner, whose inspirational talk was met with a great response, offers a final message of hope and admiration for the many young people present at the conference.

The first ever cancer survivor to climb Mount Everest, this is Sean Swarner’s incredible story. First diagnosed age 13 with Hodgkin’s disease, Sean was later diagnosed with Askin’s Sarcoma, defying shocking statistics and surviving both, much to the amazement of everyone around him. After defeating cancer twice, Sean went on and continues to conquer some of the highest peaks in the world, taking with him the awe-inspiring attitude that has led to his many triumphs. Kelly Denver and Faye Lilley give a highly insightful talk on sexuality and body image, bringing to light the pressure, through images we see all around us, to look and act in a certain way. Relating the discussion to their own personal experiences of cancer affecting their physical and mental confidence, both former patients highlight the many issues surrounding potential body insecurities.

It’s been a while, but we finally catch up with Prince as he shows us round his recording studio, currently in development and making great progress. Anthony, a fellow former patient and good friend heads down to the studio to accompany Prince, leading to the time old question: Pro or FIFA?

Coming all the way from San Diego, John Spinetta shares his wise words of wisdom on the losses and gains faced during a young person’s cancer journey. Drawing on his own experiences of working with young people, John bases his talk on the theme of teenagers still being teenagers, despite their illness. Covering issues such as friendship, sexual identity, independence and responsibility, John provides a humorous yet telling insight into some important issues faced by teenagers with cancer.

A highly informative talk from the National Cancer Research Institute, otherwise known as NCRI. A panel of former patients are on hand to discuss and share their experiences, as well as informing members of the conference the importance of research for teenagers and young adults with cancer.

After being treated for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, here we meet Tom Mercer from Newcastle who shares his experience of cancer with us. Tom explains the huge difference it made being surrounded by positive people and the opportunity to forge many friendships during his treatment. After a jam-packed weekend at FYSOT, Tom returns to college and a stressful few days- helped with a very large dose of Xbox!

Kicking off proceedings, Simon Davis, Chief Executive of the Teenage Cancer Trust, gives a warm welcome to everyone present at the seventh FYSOT conference, which is taking place in one very large spaceship apparently!

Talking us through his experience of cancer, here we meet twenty-year-old Dylan Joint, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 1997. After a relapse two years later, Dylan faced a hard battle to regain his health, dealing with intense treatment and long stints in hospital. After talking about the support his family gave him during his diagnosis, Dylan’s Mum provides an insight into how he dealt with his cancer, commending his positive attitude throughout. Dylan explains the huge benefit of having CanTeen Ireland in his life, an organisation that he describes as more like a family than anything else!

Here we meet Bridget Jenkins, whose younger brother was diagnosed with Leukemia aged just thirteen. As Bridget talks us through her story, describing the hardships of watching a sibling fight cancer, we hear what life is like from the perspective of a patient’s family member. Being the oldest sibling and a fellow teenager, Bridget explains how she felt extremely responsible for the welfare of her brother and describes the difficulties of balancing her own life with the situation occuring.

Look away boys…. things are a bit hairy, (but not for long!) as the wax strips are out and the squirming begins, just one of the many fundraising activities organised by Birmingham patient Tom Degg. During a football game with Birmingham City, Tom meets former managing director of the club, Karren Brady, who agrees with Tom’s prediction for the outcome of the match!

Part 3 of Steph’s video diary sees her feeling full of beans as two weeks of chemo has come as a welcome break from the usual nausea and tiredness. With brand new Cindy the Citroen to cheer her up, as well as a trip to the driving range for some fresh air and de-stressing, Steph is kept busy with lots of activities. Six months into her chemo now, Steph talks about how she feels to have another two years of treatment left.

Here we meet Lynda Killeen from Ireland, who was diagnosed with cancer at a very early age. After earlier set backs, Lynda went on to study at college, where a nasty fall meant the start of other serious problems. Lynda talks in depth about CanTeen Ireland, a wonderful organisation set up to give help and support to young people dealing with cancer. Talking about the many fun activities she has taken part in whilst being a member of CanTeen, Lynda explains how grateful she is to everyone within the group and despite her struggles, is a different person today because of them.

And so it begins…. prepare for madness, mayhem and merriment as Find Your Sense of Tumour 2010, coming to you from Center Parcs, kicks off with a very big Friday night bang. And who else to lead the way for giggles other than JTTV’s very own celebrity, the one, the only, Mr. Pierre, who will be making a regular live appearance on a Friday to get your weekend off to a cracking start! Moving on to the well-coveted Big Brother Chair, we are introduced to some of the faces that will be making an appearance over the weekend…and surprise surprise, the singing has started already!

We follow Birmingham as they develop their brand new website, designed to meet the needs of teenage patients, providing them with all the necessary and relevant information needed throughout all stages of treatment. To help with the redesign, a workshop is held, questioning the best possible format for the new website and finding a suitable style in which to display information.

As Birmingham prepare for the first patients of the brand new TCT unit to enter, the final touches are made and the doors are opened to teenager Will, who was diagnosed in November of last year. Amazed by the facilities and modern appearance of the unit, Will explains how much of a difference the space will make to teenagers being treated.

An inspiring short film about the struggles of teenagers with cancer. Local celebrities, ranging from politicians such as Nick Clegg to musical masterminds such as The Arctic Monkeys, Reverend and the Makers and Tony Christie join together to show their support for Sheffield’s new Teenage Cancer Unit.

Prepare to feel very jealous as Shannon lives the life of an A-lister, when she jets off to London for some sight seeing, fine dining and even finer transport! Shannon’s trip to London comes as part of the Rays of Sunshine children’s charity, designed to grant the wishes of young patients and provide them with an unforgettable day. Talking us through the endless exciting moments of her adventure, Shannon explains how it was clear that the trip was off to a good start (for her Dad anyway!) when the car that picked the family up had previously been inhabited by a certain well known Geordie lass, last name Cole!

Coverage from “The Way Forward” weekend, designed for patients who have finished their treatment and would like to discuss some of the issues faced afterwards, as well as specific topics such as body image, nutrition, education and employment. It’s not all discussion though, as the group take part in a series of outdoor activities including rock climbing, archery and many more!

A look around Newcastle’s amazing new Teenage Cancer unit, a project that has been in the pipeline for a while and one that was talked about back in September, when they first unveiled new and improved facilities for their teenagers. There has been much fundraising towards the completion of the new unit, with £250,000 raised by the Toma Fund, a charity set up in memory of Jordan Thompson, a former patient on the Newcastle ward, whose dream it was to carry on fundraising after he raised his first £10,000, but sadly passed away back in 2007. With everyone amazed at the final product, there is much praise towards the design of the unit, with everyone in agreement that the many features and facilities will make a huge difference to the lives of teenagers and their families.

In this latest instalment, we get an update from Shannon, who has lots to tell us about after finishing her treatment just over eight months ago. With many exciting happenings to report on, including seeing Take That, mingling with the stars of the X Factor backstage and having a spot of hot chocolate and cake with famous authors, it’s no wonder Shannon is having the time of her life! Just when you think she can’t possibly squeeze anything else into her packed schedule, it’s off to Lapland for Shannon, where husky sledging and finding reindeer are just some of the activities on offer…and it wouldn’t be a trip to Lapland without visiting Santa of course!

This film explores the importance of the new TCT units in the treatment and recovery of teenagers, with former and current patients providing their experiences of their time in hospital and the difference these vital units can make. By creating a “home from home” environment for young people being treated, they are able to concentrate on being teenagers and experiencing normality as much as possible.

We hear from Louise Delvin once again, who is ready to go outside and enjoy a rare bit of sunshine in her home city of Belfast. Before she does though, Louise offers some vital advice on how to stay safe when out in the sun, explaining the healing properties sunshine can provide and stating as long as precautions are taken, you don’t have to stay cooped up inside during your treatment.

This film follows the journey of Olly Rofix, diagnosed with Leukaemia in 2005. Showing the good and bad parts of treatment, including drastic weight loss and extreme side effects from chemo and radiotherapy, Olly charts his time in hospital, including the process of receiving a stem cell transplant. Sharing the same birthday as Birmingham’s brand new TCT unit, we get an update from Zara Free, who attends the opening of the unit on the day she turns 21! After being diagnosed at 14 with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, Zara was treated at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, now finished with all her treatments and receiving regular check ups. As Zara gets a tour of the unit, she explains how much of a big difference it will make to teenagers being treated, amazed at the facilities available to patients and the contemporary design of the unit.

Footage from the 2009 Winter Education Day in Edinburgh, hosted by TYAC. The event focuses on sexuality and fertility for teenagers and young adults with cancer, with a host of health professionals and members of the organisation present to talk about a wide range of sexual issues experienced during and post treatment. In this intro, Ian Lewis, chair of TYAC, discusses the organisation’s role within the teenage cancer community and their progress over the last year.

Part two of the “Let’s Talk About Sex” series sees the discussion on sexual issues focus on fertility, and the worry and disappointment of potentially not being able to conceive once treatment is over. We hear from former patients who all share their stories of fertility issues, some successful in their bid to conceive, proving health professionals, who advised them otherwise, wrong. The film also explores the option of fertility treatment, including IVF and egg freezing as possible alternatives to conceiving naturally.

Back in 2008, Marcus Rutterford organised a charity gig with his band Mexicofallz to raise money for the charities that helped him throughout his treatment for cancer. This is footage from the event, replaying the fantastic (and extremely catchy!) performance from the band and a successful night had by all.

As part of the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Services, this video openly discusses the effect cancer can have on personal factors such as fertility, sexual activity and relationships. Four former patients honestly share their experiences of problems faced throughout the duration of their illness, with the type of treatment received determining how these issues are dealt with and the emotional effect it can have on both partners.

Watch as Birmingham unveil their brand new state of the art Teenage Cancer Trust unit, a project that started as a dream over seven years ago and is now very much a reality. With a contemporary and stylish décor that would rival the trendiest of hangouts, Birmingham certainly knows how to make an impression! There’s a host of interviews with people present at the opening, who all share their thoughts and feedback on the new unit and the beneficial change it will bring into teenager’s lives.

If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when the JTTV team let their hair down and eat a Yorkshire pudding or five, then look no further. Here we are introduced to Louise Delvin from Belfast, who was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma whilst studying at University. With her first indication something might be wrong coming from an ongoing pain and swelling in her shoulder, Louise visited her GP, where she was sent for various tests to determine the underlying cause of the problem. With the true cause taking time to be diagnosed, Louise explains how worried she was, going on to explain how nothing prepared her for the shock of discovering she had cancer.

After finishing his treatment at the beginning of Summer 2008, Nick is back with an update on his situation, explaining how things have changed one year on. Talking about how adjusting to life without cancer has been a varied experience, Nick documents his experiences of moving on, including starting University again and travelling around Asia. With some incredible footage of his travels, Nick describes how much of a worthwhile and eye-opening experience it was, sharing some of his personal highlights of the trip along the way.

Fear not Pierre fans, the tissues can be put away, you can turn that frown upside down and let a little sunshine back into your lives. That’s right, Pierre is back. And who better to round up 2009 other than Barnsley’s finest? It’s been a big year for Pierre, with his celebrity status reaching a whole new level as he stormed the media and gained thousands of adoring followers. Don’t you worry though, success certainly hasn’t gone to our reviewer’s head, he’s still the modest Pierre we all know and love. With some meaty facts and figures to impress you all, including Most Watched Film, Total Number of Films and Top Five Units, we learn just how much of a successful year 2009 has been for JimmyTeens TV…and Pierre of course, who can now be referred to as Cancer Survivor 2009. With 2010 already in full swing, can this year be even bigger and better? Watch this space!

Here we are introduced to Holly Rix from Cardiff, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in January of last year. After discovering a lump on her neck, Holly visited her GP, who then referred her to the hospital to have an ultrasound, where it was revealed she had Lymphoma. Holly talks about her diagnosis and the initial complications surrounding her illness, after an X-Ray revealed she had pneumonia. There’s also the added bonus of a live acoustic performance on the ward from up and coming act Stereo Decade, a favourite band of Holly’s.

Part two of Steph’s video diary sees her reaching a very important milestone in her treatment, as she officially becomes an outpatient, after continually being an in hospital for just over a month. With her hair falling out rapidly due to chemo, Steph opts for a wacky change of hair colour before deciding to have it shaven off…not before its styled into a Mohawk though! After buying a new car so she is able to get herself to the hospital, Steph is ready to feel more independent once again. We catch up with Steph in hospital, where she is bed bound due to experiencing symptoms that suggest her spinal fluid is leaking. Feeling flat as her prolonged stay in hospital takes its toll, Steph explains the difficulties of her illness and the difficulties of staying on a bay, still remaining positive and chirpy as always.

A tour around London UCLH TCT Unit with June, an activity coordinator at the hospital. Showing us round the unit, equipped with all the necessary facilities and very stylish and contemporary decor, June explains how having the unit is a huge benefit to both staff and patients.

In part three of Stefan’s diary, he explains how having cancer completely put his life on hold, as well as the rest of his family, who all made sure they spent as much time with Stefan as possible. Talking about the benefits of the teenage unit and how it made a big difference to his treatment, Stefan stresses how much more comforting it is being treated alongside fellow teenagers experiencing a similar situation. With his diagnosis coming at a time where there are already lots of difficulties to contend with, Stefan explains that dealing with treatment as a teenager is especially challenging.

Describing the structure of his chemotherapy and the various drugs he had to take, Stefan shares some memorable moments, including the build up to him having surgery and some of the problems faced along the way.

Located at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, this film covers the charity dance display ‘Halo’, a highly impressive and insightful choreographed story, presenting the pain and torment of a dancer, who, after an unforeseen and unprovoked attack in which his neck was broken, was left immobilized and unable to dance. The performance represents his incredible and emotional journey, with all proceeds from the event in support of TCT.

Here we are introduced to not one, but two teenagers being treated at UCLH, both close in age, but both in very different situations. First up is Jade Amanda Tyler, who in September of this year was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma and is currently awaiting an important operation to remove her tibia. Talking about her experiences so far, Jade describes the initial impact of discovering such news and shares some of her personal tips on how to remain positive. Next we meet G Virdi, who shares his feelings about his time at UCLH, praising the staff and facilities on the ward and talks about the range of emotions associated with having cancer.

It’s a very special occasion for Cambridge as the doors of the brand new Oasis centre are opened to singer songwriter Newton Faulkner, who performs to an extremely lucky, albeit cosy audience!

It’s a big night for Claire as she gets herself ready for the Clic Sargent Ball 2009, located at the very glamorous Stormfont Hotel in Belfast. Every inch the professional, Claire takes to the stage and delivers a highly informative talk on her experiences in Belfast City Hospital and the positive impact that making films for Jimmyteens.tv has had on her, leading to her current role as a mentor for hospitals across Ireland.

Here we meet eighteen-year-old Stefan Dabeesing, who, in August 2006 was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. Faced with the possibility of having his leg amputated, Stefan explains how it felt to be told such news and describes the relief he felt when discovering doctors were going to explore an alternative treatment route. Stefan takes a trip down memory lane as he takes us round the unit on which he was treated; stopping to talk about some of the experiences he had along the way.

The time has come for the grand unveiling of the brand new Oasis, located at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. Designed as an interim centre where young people receiving treatment can escape the confines of hospital and relax in a more age appropriate environment, the centre has come as a welcome change of scenery for Cambridge’s teenagers.

If you were lucky enough to see Jamie Hynes’ ‘Cash In My Pocket’, a brilliantly made video of dancing nuns and groovy ninjas, then you’re very likely to be intrigued as to how it all began…well look no further, here it is, a behind the scenes peek at the making of the video and how it turned into such a success!

Established in May 1990, this film follows the work of CanTeen Ireland- a specialist teenage support group bringing teenagers affected by cancer together through a series of organised recreational trips and activities. Recognising the needs of young people post treatment and the isolation that can be felt after such a monumental time, CanTeen’s main aims are to provide the necessary information, education and most importantly, enjoyment.

Looking at how environment can affect the outcome of treatment, this film covers the extensive research undergone by TCT, with the results of their findings being discussed at the Building Futures event located at the Saatchi Gallery in London. Analysing the impact of the built environment, in terms of architecture and design, on young people being treated for cancer, a series of professionals take to the stage to talk through a range of related issues.

This film follows the incredible journey of Tom Buckley, a former patient at Christie’s YOU in Manchester, who, in November 2008 set out on a monumental 180 mile Coast2Coast walk, starting at St. Bees in Cumbria and finishing eighteen days later at Robin Hood’s Bay. Journeying through wind and rain, sunshine and snow, the walk was especially challenging for Tom, who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in 2004. Raising funds for the fantastic oncology unit that treated him for four years, Tom initially set himself a target of £500, however, by the end, this figure was a distant memory as he raised almost £85,000 and was rightly named Mancunian of the Year for his outstanding efforts.

In this third instalment of the Headspace series, we hear about a range of issues concerning post treatment of brain tumours, with the team of past young patients offering advice based on their first hand experience of dealing with such a specific condition. Talking about the precautions taken after treatment has finished, including the possibility of an email or telephone clinic service to raise any queries, the team agree the comfort of knowing assistance and advice is available over the phone would be a much more accessible means of contact. Also talking about how their experiences have changed their outlook of life, we learn how going through such a change has made most of the team alter their views of certain situations.

Part 2 of Matt’s jam-packed holiday sees the family continue to have even more fun in Prestwick, Scotland. Next up is a trip to Xscape- a ski and leisure complex, where an excitable Matt has a go sledging down the snow slope… taking a different route to everyone else! After his snowy antics, Matt heads to slightly warmer climbs in the form of the very tropical Paradise Island, where it’s time for a spot of mini golf. Rounding off the holiday, it’s cake on the menu as Matt’s brother William celebrates his birthday. As the time comes to return home, Matt thoroughly recommends coming to Malcolm Sargent house, proof being that he doesn’t want to leave!

Talking about their experiences in dealing with post treatment induced anxiety, a selection of former patients at Christie’s in Manchester share their stories of anxiety issues, explaining some of the reasons for their problems and the methods put into place to help regain their former confidence. With the help of the occupational therapy team, there to assist young people suffering with the effects of post treatment panic, we learn how vital the anxiety management service is and the positive effect it has had on former patients’ lives.

In this latest instalment, we catch up with Fay, who is feeling the effects of treatment as her walking becomes progressively harder and chemo induced tiredness kicks in. Fluffy the teddy bear makes a welcome return; however there may be competition for poor Fluffy in the form of Larry…an equally fluffy orange monkey! With a busy agenda ahead of her, including a car boot sale, a holiday and a disco scheduled, Fay is kept occupied….not forgetting reading Harry Potter six…or even ten times over!

Continuing with the Headspace series, we hear more from former brain tumour patients Sarah, Jonny, Rebecca, Ashley, Curtis and Craig. Talking about the physical, emotional and learning difficulties faced post treatment, we discover each case is very different, often depending on the location of the tumour and the complications experienced. Asked about the after care process and whether regular surveillance comes as a vital reassurance or an intrusive disruption, the general consensus is that ongoing reviews of the situation are a positive process.

Welcome to the wonderfully bizarre world of Jamie Hynes…and Manchester’s Young Oncology Unit by the looks of things! Suitable dressed as a roman soldier (hopefully with a bit of cash in his pocket by the end of it) and making his way around the unit, it’s like a tour of the worlds best fancy dress shop as we are introduced, one by one, to the characters that make this video the random, fun and slick production it is!

As part of Headspace, videos related to and concerning the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours, created to help other patients in similar situations, we hear from a series of former patients, all sharing their experience of living with a brain tumour. Covering a range of subjects, including the discovery of the tumour, the varying forms it can take and the treatment path chosen, the film provides an in-depth look at just some of the complexities and issues faced by patients, as well as the contrasting positive effect it has had on their lives.

Here we meet Kirsty Harrison again and this time it’s curry and Cascada on the agenda! After dancing the night away accompanied by best friend Sarah, Kirsty gives us a tour of Edinburgh’s drop in unit where the ever popular Wii console makes an appearance again! Watch out for Kirsty’s extra terrestrial addition at the end too…

We follow Southampton as they set themselves the challenge of a lifetime- to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. With some breathtaking scenery to take in and the physical challenge of climbing to the top of the 5,895 metre high mountain, the intense challenge is an unforgettable and worthwhile experience- one that raises over £30,000 for TCT.

Cameras at the ready, there’s some holiday snaps waiting to be taken as the Tozer family head off on their jollydays, staying at Malcolm Sargent House, a Clic Sargent holiday venue for families affected by cancer. With an itinerary lined up that would rival any avid tourist, first stop is the Transport Museum, shortly followed by the Science Museum, which comes highly recommended by Matt, (and that’s before he’s even stepped inside the building- it must be good!) With all sorts of weird and wonderful activities to keep everyone busy, the museum proves a success, adding to the fun the trip to Scotland has provided Matt and his family with.

Part 5 of Joe’s inspiring video series, filmed alongside trusted professional Professor David Walker, sees Joe continue to discuss his decision not to receive further treatment for his cancer and openly and honestly talk about his whole experience, raising further discussion points along the way. Joe explains how his severe lack of energy is limiting what he can do and offers his thoughts on the best options for care and pain control, highly praising the Sheffield TCT unit where he has formed many friendships and experienced a tremendous amount of support and care. Providing his own personal insight into Joe’s story, Professor Walker explains how keeping close control of the situation, just like Joe, has meant that he has been able to live life to the full and make the choices that, ultimately, are best for his needs.

A highly informative and insightful film covering all there is to know about The Developing Brain in Neuro-Oncology conference, which took place back in April 2008 at St. John’s College, Cambridge. Looking closely at the needs of teenagers and young adults with brain tumours, Professor David Walker, a leading paediatric oncologist, talks about the main aims of the conference and how ultimately this will help aid future patients and give them the best chance of survival and recovery. With a highly diverse team of both medical and non-medical professionals at hand to identify some of the main issues surrounding teenage brain tumours, a wide range of clinical problems and scenarios are highlighted. Bringing together the experiences of former patients and their examples of treatment, rehabilitation and recovery, a host of factors are raised, analysed and discussed with members present at the conference.

It’s a case of “let’s go through the keyhole” as the one and only Matthew Tozer gives us a tour of Malcolm Sargent House located in the beautiful area of Ayrshire, run by charity Clic Sargent. Offering family centered breaks and specialist weekends for young people, siblings, and families affected by cancer, the house is equipped with some fantastic facilities for all to use, including a music and games room, a brand new TV lounge and not forgetting that all important Wii! Matt demonstrates his music ability as he tries out some of the instruments on offer and afterwards, proceeds to show us just where that Wii console is!

Talking to Professor Walker about his decision not to go through with the suggested operation highly recommended by his doctors and surgeons, Joe explains why he made the choice not to go with the majority opinion and look closer at the factors that were important to him. Analysing the best option, in terms of mental and physical stability, Joe conducted his own thorough research into the pathways available, appreciating the support provided by Professor Walker who continued to respect his decision on the subject. Joe reflects on his negative experience of being treated with a trial chemotherapy drug, talking in detail about the whole process and discussing the problems he faced.

Part two of Christopher’s video diary sees him in hospital for the week as he receives his latest radiotherapy treatment. Reflecting on the discovery of two more tumours in his body, Christopher explains how it felt to be told the news, the treatment he received, as well as the various procedures he regularly has to endure. With the whole experience having changed his perspective on life, Christopher talks about the fear and uncertainty surrounding cancer and expresses his desire to receive a break from treatment.

The day of the walk has finally come and Team Peter are out in force, t shirts on, raring to go! With current world heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis present to set proceedings off, along with The Lord Mayor of Sheffield, it’s a high profile affair, not least forgetting Peter himself who has made quite a name for himself after all his hard work promoting the event. After setting himself a huge challenge, Peter is determined to reach that finish line, and with the support of his friends and family, as well as the determination to succeed, there’s nothing standing in his way as he powers on through. Even finding himself in a lot of pain as the walk nears an end, Peter still sees it to the end, greeted with a huge amount of support and raises over £500 for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

Part two of Franz Ferdinand’s wonderful live music session on Newcastle’s teenage ward sees the band performing two more classic hits, including “Take Me Out” and “Walk Away” combined with more photo meet and greets for the members of the ward. Unable to watch the session previously, the group make a very special private performance for Bethany, who receives more of those classic hits, this time bedside!

It’s a rare and wonderful musical treat as the one and only Franz Ferdinand take a visit to Newcastle to perform live on the ward, playing a selection of their best known and well loved songs. From “The Dark of the Matinee” to “No You Girls”, the group fail to disappoint, providing patients and staff on the ward with a series of fantastic musical performances and a meet and greet photo sesh afterwards!

Here we are introduced to Christopher McKeown, currently being treated at Belfast City Hospital, who was diagnosed at nineteen with Ewing’s Sarcoma, after a series of initial pains in his arm that gradually got worse. Starting treatment straight away, Christopher received a course of chemotherapy, feeling unsure about what would follow and the side effects he would experience. Explaining the difference in how his life is now to how it was prior to diagnosis, Christopher talks about how having cancer has affected his social and daily activites, lacking the energy to do things a lot of the time.

Another look at a fantastic Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, located at The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. Opened in April 2007, the ward incorporates all the vital components of a successful teenage unit; state of the art facilities, a cool and contemporary environment that appeals to teenagers and a supportive, relaxed and fun atmosphere in which to be treated in, also allowing interaction with fellow patients.

Part three of Joe’s films sees him talk about his initial experience with radiotherapy, and how much less complex it felt than receiving chemotherapy. Lucky enough to experience no real side effects of the radiotherapy, Joe talks about the differences between the two types of treatment. Still at university at this point, Joe talks about the difficulties of maintaining his studies and attending lectures, all whilst coping with the side effects of treatment. Despite this huge strain on his education, Joe managed to pass his first year successfully, a colossal personal achievement on his part. Even though he managed his academic side effectively, Joe talks about missing out on the extra curricular activities and how this affected his overall experience, feeling as though he wasn’t gaining everything he anticipated from university. Faced with some critical health decisions concerning which path to take with his treatment, Joe explains how he conducted his own research on various procedures, discovering his own findings and making choices based on his own personal feelings and philosophy of the situation.

Here we meet nineteen year old Steph Hayter, who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. After a successful first year at University and an exciting and care free summer holiday, Steph began to experience a series of hip pains, leading to a series of tests and biopsies, and eventually her diagnosis of cancer. Steph explains how the initial shock was worsened by the prospect of losing her freedom, after looking forward to returning to Uni for her second year, surrounded by friends. After being in hospital for two weeks, Steph is allowed out for two nights and the first stop is the seaside, where the sunny weather and light breeze comes as a welcome break from the confines of hospital.

Part two of Joe Moir’s informative and honest video series, where by he talks openly about his cancer to trusted consultant Professor David Walker, sees Joe continue to reflect on his diagnosis and discuss some of the feelings experienced around that time. After looking towards his future from an early age and knowing exactly what he wanted, Joe explains how the prospect of spending all of his time in hospital came as a huge blow. As his way of dealing with the situation, Joe talks about how he faced his illness with a logical approach so he could proceed with the most effective treatment plan possible and become aware of all eventualities. Managing to continue with his studies, Joe explains how focusing on his education as a way of coping with his cancer provided him with an extra drive, one that got him to University.

After the construction of a brand new purpose built cancer centre, Bexey Wing, located at St James’ University Hospital in Leeds, the additional installation of a shiny new Teenage Cancer Trust unit came, equipped with all the very latest facilities and fantastic décor, ensuring teens are treated in the most supportive and age appropriate environment possible. From providing the initial interim units, the teenage and young adult service has continued to rapidly grow and progress over the years, allowing the completion of these new specialised units, complete with staff who provide the fun, relaxed and supportive care they are known and praised for.

After receiving his fourth chemo and experiencing bad nausea, we follow Aaron as he has his fifth treatment, getting an insight into what a typical “chemo day” is like for him. Surrounded by friends and family, Aaron’s younger sister Jessica takes to the camera and tells us a bit about the situation, not forgetting to inform us of the drinks and free biscuits available at the hospital!

Who needs the street safety hedgehogs when Mr. Red is around to show you the rules of the road? We follow Sean Gater as he prepares this nifty little animation, from creating the character Mr. Red himself, to providing the voice effects. This all comes as part of his 15 hour activities challenge, a UK Youth scheme accredited by ASDAN which will provide Sean with new skills and qualifications.

It’s bye bye Pierre (for now anyway!) and hello Peter as he promotes “Walk as One”, a sponsored 5K walk raising funds for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, the hospital where Peter received his radiotherapy treatment and a charity very close to his heart. Facing his own personal battles, the walk has even more meaning for Peter, who has been left with a series of health complications post treatment. He might not be in his Pierre role this time, but he’s certainly just as famous, as Peter travels from one radio station to the other, getting as much airtime as any credible celeb…now all that’s left is the walk!

The first of a series of highly engaging and informative films featuring patient Joe Moir talk openly with Professor David Walker about his experiences with cancer. Looking back on his initial diagnosis, Joe explains the symptoms and signs surrounding the discovery of Osteosarcoma and the shock of hearing such big news. Joe talks about how much it has helped to receive the constant guidance and information provided by Professor Walker, conducted through a trusting working partnership, which looks at Joe’s needs as an individual person and patient.

Covering all the essential information on what to expect and feel post chemo, Cambridge’s Laura, accompanied by Nick, shares her experience with cancer, the implications of treatment and how life is now, as she looks towards the future. Diagnosed age 20 with Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, Laura explains how despite treatment being over, remission is no easy feat. With a host of factors contributing to the difficulties faced post treatment, including people underestimating what can be achieved, Laura stresses how important it is to talk about how you feel and what you feel capable of once treatment has finished.

Festival-goers at the ready! We join Southampton’s Clic Sargent team as they head to Glastonbury for a weekend of music, wellie boots and tents….and surprisingly, the sun is shining and the grass is green! Camping back stage with some of the VIP’s, Southampton even have the luxury of a shower….no excuse to return home stinky then! After getting “jiggy with it” we get a lowdown of all the best acts, all the exciting activities taking place and the many signatures collected over the weekend!

Here we meet fourteen-year-old David Cowan, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in December last year. David tells us about his initial reaction to the news, remaining cool and collected at all times. David also offers some tips on what to eat during chemo, explaining how all those yummy fast foods you crave might not actually be so beneficial and a trip down the salad aisle may be a better bet! It’s a winter wonderland as David takes part in some snow filled antics, in between receiving radiotherapy, completing his studies and hanging out with friends and family.

An overview of the fantastic Round Britain Voyage programme put together by the Ellen MacArthur Trust, helping young people in recovery move on from their illness, achieve something extraordinary and offer other patients, in and out of treatment, an example of what the future can hold. With a selection of some of the most memorable moments experienced during each leg of the trip, it’s clear to see the whole experience is not only extremely worthwhile, but a lot of fun too!

Coverage from the launch of the re-designed Gateway Academy in Thurrock, where TCT’s education team were invited along to provide students of all years information about the charity and how it works, as well as the facts and figures concerning cancer. A series of workshops, based on TCT’s new learning resource were also put together for students to take part in, adding to a very successful and positive day for TCT and students and staff at the Academy.

A look around behind the scenes during the making of YPU undressed, a film put together by past and present patients and staff of Birmingham Young Person’s Unit. Designed to give new patients awaiting treatment a better idea of what to expect and who they might meet whilst there, the film covers all the essential information and provides an insight into some of the individual stories of patients on the ward.

We join some of Cambridge’s video stars as they try their hand at making some animated videos of their own…with some interesting results! From fish kicking karate kids to raining socks and Ronny and Roxy the singing rats, Cambridge covers most of the weird and wonderful ideas you’d expect from any good animation day!

With a fun filled comedy comes even funnier outtakes as the stars of “Not Our Cup Of Tea” show us how much fun it can be to look bored at a rather outdated teenage youth group session run by a rather batty youth worker…!

Welcome teenagers! This group looks enthusiastic as humanely possible as they arrive for their Teenage Youth Group session and find the numbers are a little on the sparse side…think granny, not great. Nothing that a nice cup of tea and a plate of biscuits won’t solve though right?!

Starting at Lands End on the 19th July 2009 and finishing up at John O’Groats seventy days later (with a whole lot of fundraising in between) this is T-Rex Treks, an intense physical challenge completed by Lloyd Scott, with twenty days set aside to raise funds for TCT, or as some people are led to believe, TDT (The Teenage Dinosaur Trust)! With “Big Rexy” being a huge hit with the public, there have been endless fundraising opportunities and altogether, an incredibly worthwhile and beneficial experience.

Here we meet Katy Johncock, diagnosed with cancer after a series of tests and X-Rays. Katy talks us through her past experiences of life on treatment, including the symptoms and side effects of her drugs and the profound affect it had on her education. Looking at the positive side of things however, Katy points out some of the better sides of cancer, including the wide variety of trips on offer for patients, the opportunity to meet new friends and the relaxing and stress free environment she was treated in. Katy tells us how she celebrated finishing treatment, with only one option on the cards really…. a massive party!

These celebrities are never happy…too hot….too cold…it’s never right, as Lawri Duncan soon discovers when she heads backstage at the “O2 Arena” and interviews French diva Miss. Ellie Phant. Post interview, we learn a bit more about Lawri herself as she talks us through her diagnosis, the treatment she has received and explains how rare her cancer is, with only 0.01% of people in the world getting it.

Everyone always loves the outtakes….and these certainly don’t disappoint! With a bad interview comes some definite giggles and if it’s not asking to use the toilet that does it, then it’s spear throwing instead of pie eating that does…

Imagine all the things that can go wrong in an interview and you’ve probably come close to what happens when this panel of interviewers meet their next appointment, Phoebe Buffay (rings a bell from somewhere…!). Despite creating a patchy first impression, panellists Persia and Shannon seems to think she’s the best thing since sliced bread….somehow, I think it might have something to do with the offer of taking the patients to foam parties in Ibiza!

An in-depth look around Birmingham’s Young Person’s Unit, led by former patient Jenn Shaw, who is at hand to interview various staff and patients and find out more about the running of the unit and their experiences on YPU. With a fantastic team of specialist professionals, who’s ultimate aim is to provide the very best care possible, as well as all the very latest and best facilities, Birmingham’s YPU offers an extremely vibrant and upbeat atmosphere for young people being treated.

Part 3 of Emma’s video diary sees her back in hospital again, awaiting the start of her beam chemotherapy and stem cell treatment. Despite experiencing a few initial problems with her chemotherapy after having a reaction to the drugs, Emma’s stem cell treatment goes ahead and once finished, she finally manages to get home after four long weeks in hospital.

Here we are introduced to twelve year old Persia Honar, who is being treated for Ewings Sarcoma at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh. With more X-Boxes to play with than a gaming shop, Persia gives us a look at some of the state of the art facilities available for teenagers on Ward 2. Persia explains how her home back near Saudi Arabia has meant they have had to move to Edinburgh, where a lot of her family are located, so she can receive the treatment she needs.

In Part 4 of Shannon’s blog, we follow her daily routine, having just completed her last session of chemo. Amongst playing with little brother Ross, who gets the party started with a highly impressive dance display (involving spinning round in circles!), Shannon also has regular visits from other family members and friends. It’s a momentous occasion as Shannon receives the news that she can return home for good, leaving behind a very empty hospital room!

Starting with stomach pains, Amy explains how a series of symptoms and tests led to her diagnosis of cancer. Amy talks about how it got easier once she got her head round the situation and started mixing with people in a similar situation…all whilst sat on a far away planet talking to a very friendly green blob!

The party poppers are out as Sheffield TCTU celebrate their 7th birthday. With their fans out in full force, there’s time taken to thank all the people that have supported them along the way, ensuring Sheffield’s success. Watch out for a little piece from Pierre too…and maybe, just maybe, some dancing!

Diagnosed when she was just 11, this is Kirsty Harrison’s story. After an initial operation, Kirsty’s cancer returned in 2008, along with the addition of a new person in her life, Scott. Explaining the series of events that led to their relationship, Kirsty talks about how he gave her the boost and motivation she needed, sharing special and personal pictures of their time together.

A look around Maggie’s Centre in Edinburgh, a cancer support service providing care for anyone affected by any type of cancer, at any stage. The centre is equipped with all the essential facilities and provides a warm and cosy environment for patients and their families, whilst offering help with any problems, big or small, associated with cancer.

Finding out she only has one block of chemo left, Shannon is in high spirits as completes her penultimate treatment. Despite keeping busy, Shannon explains how she is eagerly awaiting her stay away from hospital, desperate to see her Neutrophils go up so she can finally get home. From golfing to bowling and shopping to cinema, Shannon certainly keeps busy once she’s back!

It’s time for more mingling with the stars as the one and only Snow Patrol take part in a memorable meet and greet session with Edinburgh at T in the Park.

Part 2 of Shannon’s blog sees her move to a new ward and of course, a tour around is essential! As she receives her treatment, Shannon talks us through her daily happenings, including lots of DVD watching, Sims playing and bacon roll consumption! It’s Disney mania as Shannon receives enough freebies to open up her own Disney store…not before a remote control car racing championship though!

Reviewing all the best TCT moments this year, we join a series of TCT’ers, all actively involved within the charity, as they relive their favourite memories. From telling James Corden he has nice trainers, to serving curry to mass amounts of people, there’s a whole range of weird and wonderful moments to share!

A look around Newcastle’s day case unit, where new eating facilities and improved services downstairs have made a huge difference to patients being treated. We get a detailed tour around the unit, including the brand new Ward 14, where there’s a separate waiting area for teenagers, allowing them to socialise with people their own age.

Highlights from Edinburgh’s time at T in the Park, where there’s tireless campaigning taking place…and a lot of talk about sunburn! Providing information and recruiting teenagers for the £50 challenge, the TCT tent is a hotbed of activity, alongside talks with former patients who share their experiences with cancer.

We join some friendly faces at T in the Park, where discussion concerning the installation of new teenage units in the East of Scotland is hot on the agenda. With former patients and campaigners giving their thoughts on the issue, the general opinion is that age appropriate wards are vital in the bid to provide teenagers with the best care possible. Another look at a brand new shiny TCT unit, this time it’s Edinburgh’s turn and it’s looking good! Designed as a space for teenagers to escape to, so they can experience normal teenage activities as well as a chance to socialise with fellow patients, Edinburgh’s space has all the usual and wonderful facilities of a sparkling new TCT unit, including X-Box, Play Station and the famous plasma television screen!

A variety of Edinburgh’s teenagers contribute their experiences of being treated on a children’s ward, with the general consensus being that excess noise is the worst point of the process. Stressing the importance of providing private, well facilitated and age appropriate wards for teenagers, everyone is in agreement about how vital teenage units are in the cycle of treatment, recovery and care.

We follow Sky Cartwright as she receives Proton Therapy, a form of external beam radiotherapy, over in Switzerland. Starting with a tour of their accommodation, followed by a peek at the treatment itself, the film provides an informative insight into the specialist process of Proton Therapy as well as a snapshot of the family’s time in Switzerland.

An introduction to Newcastle’s TCT ward, equipped with all the facilities that make long stints in hospital made considerably more comfortable for the teenagers being treated. With a selection of different layout options, including en-suite facilities and two and three person bays, as well as television and Internet access, a games room and recreational area, Newcastle is certainly not short of fantastic facilities! The opening of a brand new purpose built TCT unit however, due to unveil in January, will see a bigger and further equipped living space for Newcastle’s teenagers.

Diagnosed with Leukemia on Christmas Eve 2008, Shannon explains the series of symptoms and complaints that led to her diagnosis. We follow Shannon’s day-to-day routine as she receives treatment, causing her to experience a range of side effects including high temperature, nausea and tiredness. With her family around to entertain her however, particularly little brother Ross who demonstrates how to successfully eat a camera, there’s always time for plenty of smiles!

A tour around Ward 35 in Bristol, where there’s plenty going on! We get a look at the various facilities the ward has to offer, including a peek at the very lovely garden…but only from the inside, as seagulls have decided to set up home and spoil the tranquil atmosphere! Awaiting some exciting refurbishments, we hear the plans for a flat screen television, air hockey table and even a brand new music system to be installed.

Who needs Yvette Fielding when Shannon McKenzie is at hand to show us some strange and spooky activity taking place in a seemingly normal hospital room… With a ghostly ghoul around every corner, surely Shannon can’t brave a night in the bed of doooooooom? You’ll have to watch and find out….!

A behind the scenes look at Edinburgh’s recent animation day, where there’s all sorts going on…from moulding to computer animation, there’s lots to try…resulting in the creation of a rather wonderful green blob, that, with a bit of computer trickery, soon becomes a very real green blob!

In this highly enlightening and at times, humorous portrayal of how a night out takes a dramatic turn for the worse, we see a different side to being diagnosed with cancer. Out on the lash with mates, this unsuspecting teenager never expects to end up in hospital halfway through the night…not to mention receiving the news he has Leukemia. With a combined parenting team of Marlon from Emmerdale and Sue Morgan though, things can’t stay down for too long, further highlighting this drama as both light hearted and deeply insightful.

It’s the grand open day of Cardiff’s brand new TCT unit and it’s certainly a glam affair! With a handful of celebs, including Roger Daltrey, Kelly Jones and Sarah, Duchess of York, there to show their support, the event is one of great success. With an array of wonderful features, including 8 beds for patients, out patient and day facilities, the unit has been one of TCT’s biggest projects and is set to provide a much needed service for Cardiff’s teenagers.

In this highly insightful film, charting the lives of cancer patients Brad and Tania, we hear how their contrasting experiences with the disease have dramatically changed their lives. Describing the build up to each diagnosis, both very different situations, Brad and Tania explain the symptoms they experienced, the treatment received and the impact it had on their friends and family.

Prepare for some serious Kung-Fu fighting as an evil little red blob, otherwise known as cancer, gets one huge kick in the face…. and they’re not stopping til it’s banished!

Brad’s got to have his bacon…otherwise he gets grouchy. Meanwhile, Tiffany and Amy are busy sending bees buzzing into the distance whilst Lucy is feeding cats and dogs in the kitchen with a nice bit of toast and orange juice. Not forgetting Carly….who likes squirrels, purple squirrels!

Who knew plasticine could be so scary? One plasticine patient, waiting for her plasticine chemo, soon discovers just this, when her ever so friendly nurse lets loose the Lawn Boy…no need to get out the clippers then!

With the recent release of the latest Harry Potter film, looks like they missed a trick by not including the Southampton Avon Tyrrell Wizards in the final cut! Recreating a scene from The Goblet of Fire, a few recognisable characters make an appearance, from the famous Harry himself to Professor Moody…complete with wands, capes and it wouldn’t be Harry Potter without mentioning He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named…dum dum dum….

Prepare for an epic adventure of rabbit versus the ever-evil Luke Emia, a multiplying green blob with a considerably deeper voice, surely meek little rabbit can’t come out on top this time? A little help from a random (pig) professor with a cave of luminous looking potions might be just the answer…will Luke Emia finally be conquered? You’d better watch…!

A tingly tongue, hot flushes, “something coming up the pipe”, a tuggy stomach…just a few of the symptoms felt when starting to feel under the weather, according to the cheerful looking red fella, in this animation by Danielle Robinson.

Diversity eat your heart out! We get a look at a recent performance from the Avon Tyrrell Street Dance Troupe, located in Southampton, who combine a series of contemporary moves with some top tunes to create a brilliant little performance…and watch out for the wiggly worm half way through!

A lovely green blob, a charming looking carrot, a toothy bear, a wiggly eyebrowed heart, a blingey ring, a floating fairy… all talking about their opinions on the new facilities at Christie’s Y.O.U. From a mixed bunch of interviewees comes a mixed bunch of answers, all with one thing in common though…an extremely positive response to the recent changes made, benefiting everyone in different ways.

Part 2 of Alex and Pat’s video diary, talking about their relationship as twins throughout Alex’s cancer treatment. Covering issues such as returning back to school and dealing with difficult questions, both brothers explain how the situation has affected them differently and how they coped with what was happening. Expressing their positivity towards the level of care shown by the TCT nurses, both Alex and Pat praise the energy and morale seen on the TCT ward, making Alex’s time in hospital considerably more comfortable.

A behind the scenes look at the ghoulish and gruesome “Flash: The Horrors of M3”, a film that had even the toughest of individuals quivering at the knees! Starting out as a series of ideas on a piece of paper, alongside a little added help from Nurse Sue, we follow the team as they create total horror before your very eyes! Watch out for the fondant fancy monster making an appearance too….it’s a wap!

A tour of the brand spanking new changes at Christie’s Y.O.U in Manchester, with reclining leather chairs and a shiny new games room being just some of the fantastic facilities available for teenagers.

Another insightful film, charting the relationship between twin brothers Alex and Pat Dawson, who openly talk about their close connection, from finishing each others sentences to the idea of “mirror image” and “twin pains”, terms used after both brothers experienced similar discomfort, but with two very different diagnoses.

It had to happen soon….Pierre at a theme park. Who knows what will happen when the world’s, erm, Sheffield’s most famous cancer survivor will be unleashed to the crowds of Alton Towers? At least Bob is there to hold his hand on some of the more scary rides…(i.e the magical story book river ride). As Pierre makes his way around the park, it’s a rare occasion as we are introduced to Pierre’s sibling cancer patient of the year 2009, Claire…he just won’t share that prestigious title yet!

As a tribute to David Neylon, who sadly passed away in February 2009, his friends and family are out in force for the David Neylon Memorial Cup, an event that will take place every year, in his memory. With Dave’s Ravers on one side and DK Dazzlers on the other, let the games…and fundraising begin!

Highlights from Leg 5 of the Skandia Round Britain Voyage, from Hull to Newcastle, taking place aboard the famous Scarlet Oyster. Amongst all the hard work sailing, there’s time to stop for ice cream….and lots of smiles!

Leg 2 of the Skandia Round Britain Voyage sees the crew head from London to Dover, with sights of Tower Bridge and the O2 arena to look forward to…oh and not forgetting rolling down hills!

Tick tock, tick tock….when you’re bored in the waiting room and have only a couple of chums for company, telling ghost stories may seem like a good idea…not for these three friends though, when they unleash a horrifying chain of horrifyingly horrific events! From zombified mummies to celery fearing doctors, M3 is full of spooky surprises….ones that will leave you reaching for a cushion to hide behind!

In this highly informative film by Tom McNab in Leeds, we learn about the pivotal role of a Youth Support Co-Ordinator on the teenage ward, gaining information on how their vital work contributes greatly to the positive and social atmosphere of the unit. Providing normality, friendship and a host of exciting and enjoyable activities for patients, we hear how important the work of their resident Youth Support Co-Ordinator, Kat, is in the process of providing teenagers with the best care possible.

Part 2 of Emma’s blog sees her preparing for another long stint in hospital, as well as waiting to see the results of the mini-beam treatment she has been receiving, chemotherapy used in smaller doses to create a more effective response. After unfortunately contracting an infection, Emma finds herself back in hospital, remaining there until she eagerly awaits her latest CT scan result, which will determine when she can get cracking with her latest lot of treatment.

Here we meet Danyaal (also known as Danny) located at the Royal Marsden, who talks us through his recent diagnosis of T-Lymphoblastic Leukemia. As Danny discusses his experience, we learn of the intense treatment program he is currently receiving, as well as some of the symptoms surrounding his illness. As well as talking about his own situation, Danny offers some welcome reassurance to fellow patients on what to expect with treatment, remaining upbeat and positive throughout.

We follow Claire as she heads off on a special day trip to London, organised by the Willow Foundation. From Westminster to Downing Street and a bit of political mingling in between, Claire experiences a good old fashioned British day…rounding it off with some “pukka tukka” at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant, Fifteen and then a snazzy West End show!

Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in January, here we meet Fay (with a Y, not an E!) as she gives us an honest and humorous insight into her journey so far, accompanied by loyal companion Fluffy, a bear who is very clever…and rather accident prone by the looks of things! As Fay shares her story, explaining how her friends reacted when they found out and talking about school, we learn how experiences like the recent film workshop have helped to boost her confidence and meet new people.

From flying paper planes to “Morgan’s British Empire” (or M.B.E for short!) we bring you 10T TV, a quirky and creative selection of mini films incorporating a whole host of arty media tricks, produced by the young people of Ward 10T at St. James’s Hospital, Leeds in celebration of the ward’s recent ten year anniversary.

Watch as Cardiff become the latest region to unveil their brand new Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, a vital addition in the bid to aid teenagers and young adults throughout their cancer treatment. With a strong emphasis on social interaction, encouraging patients to mix with other people of a similar age and experience, the unit is equipped with the facilities needed to ensure it does not feel like a standard hospital ward. Additionally, with its contemporary age specific design, Cardiff’s teenagers will be transported away to a cool haven incorporating style, relaxation and top quality care.

An honest, heart-warming and at times funny insight into Alex and Pat’s unique relationship as brothers, twins and not forgetting, friends. Talking about how Alex’s diagnosis changed both their lives, but also brought them closer together, both brothers explain, from their own point of view, the changes that occurred and share a few memorable stories along the way…

Take 1… Take 2… Take 3… prepare for a series of funny outtakes, set deep in the heart of Southampton’s tropical common as misbehaving and not forgetting “distinctable” bugs are just one of the things that has the cast of The Slow Show giggling!

Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, this is Aaron’s story. Starting with a fast and furious car ride on the beach, we get an insight into his day-to-day happenings, as he explains some of the side effects of treatment and how it has affected his life. Not one to stay still for very long, Aaron proves how active he is with an intensive walk with friends up a mountain and even throws in a game of football…all without the help of energy drinks!

Take one inflatable chair and a handful of guests at a top notch birthday party and what do you get? A bit of a giggle really…as some familiar faces and partygoers take time to wish Leeds TCTU a very happy 10th birthday and then attempt to get back up again!

After all the planning and plotting earlier last month, it’s time for the event everyone has been waiting for, the celebration of TCT’s 10th birthday in Leeds, with proceedings taking place at the beautiful Castle Howard. With the champagne glasses twinkling and the limited edition jimmyteenstv mugs even twinklier, the scene is set and the guests begin to arrive, with a splendid array of entertainment, cakes and even an animation to look forward to. Including speeches from former patients and Rebecca Howard, the Honorary Patron for the trust’s unit in Leeds, the night is one of celebration, acknowledgement and a great deal of partying of course!

We follow Leicester as they try their hand at a bit of tobogganing, located at the SnowDome in Tamworth, on a 170 metre slope of real snow… so definitely not one for the faint hearted! After their chilly antics, there’s only time for one thing… a Christmas party of course!

Well, when it’s sunny outside and there’s a whole host of rare and wonderful bugs to hunt for with the well renowned Professor Daisy Leaf (including the prestigious “Maximus Crawlius”), who wants to be inside learning about equations?! Not the students of this class…as they will stop at nothing, hiding under tables included, to ensure they are outside, finding out who really set The Loft on fire and killed Warren…

Charting ten years of TCT in Leeds, Sue Morgan covers the last decade of the region’s progress, remembering pivotal moments that have ensured its success to this very day. Starting with the introduction of a teenage support group, VCM, conducted to learn the needs and views of the teenagers themselves, the social side of things soon took off, sparking the introduction of an activity coordinator, and lots of exciting opportunities for Leeds’ teenagers. With the team developing and growing as the years progressed and more pivotal figures being introduced, it wasn’t long before jimmyteenstv was born, with Leeds being its original starting point for further growth and success. With plenty more fantastic opportunities in the pipeline, it’s early days for what is set to be another outstanding few years for TCT in Leeds.

Big bees, little bees, medium sized bees…they just will not buzz off as this unsuspecting dog soon discovers, simply trying to enjoy the afternoon sunshine! Looks like someone needs some insect repellent!

Part 2 of Laura’s video diary sees her explaining how her family and friends dealt with her diagnosis, as she takes time to read out some of the many letters and cards sent to her in the beginning. As Laura looks through some of her keepsake memories, she highly recommends going to see the show Billy Elliot, as it was one of the best things she has ever seen. Grace makes a return (without being punched this time!) to assist in thanking TCTU for everything they have done for Laura throughout her treatment.

A cheeky peek behind the scenes of Nottingham’s latest comedy, Fizz, where we get to see all the preparation (and pizza eating!) before director Matt calls “lights, camera, action” and David the camera man begins rolling. As high tech as a recording of any Eastenders episode, it looks as if the world of soap should watch out for Nottingham and their film making skills!

Encouraging the introduction of education on teenage cancer across the UK, this film explains the importance of the next generation of young adults becoming aware of the facts concerning the disease. As well as being able to answer any difficult questions that teenagers may have, TCT’s team of professionals are at hand to offer young adults the opportunity and education to gain a better knowledge and understanding of teenage cancer and most significantly, start “talking about it”.

Here we meet Laura, who begins her diary by explaining what it was like to be told she had cancer, as well as telling us some of the positive and negative points of her experience. We catch up with Laura sometime later, where she has lots to tell about her latest on goings, including dancing with umbrellas and getting drenched! There’s time for an interview with best friend Grace too, where Laura provides a light hearted insight into her feelings about all things cancer and demonstrates their favourite game, where a few (friendly) punches are thrown!

What do you get if you take a persistent younger cousin, an impatient older cousin and a can of Coke? A lot of fizz….and a giant mess by the looks of things, as Nottingham show us the consequences of cousin conflict in this humorous little drama!

Highlights from London’s enjoyable time at FYSOT ’08, where a fun filled night is rightly followed by a hearty big breakfast the next morning… and meaning a production line is set up to ensure everyone gets their eggs on time!

Here we meet Runaway Rex, who, by the looks of things, can’t be taken anywhere without sneaking off to cause mayhem…whether it’s harassing other pets, or regurgitating stolen toad in the hole in the bathroom, this fella spells trouble!

In this latest instalment, we catch up with Alice as she takes a trip to Sutton Hoo to visit the snowdrops, amongst a lot of revision for her up and coming exams. With her walking steadily progressing, Alice is slowly saying goodbye to the crutches and gradually over the summer holidays, makes some huge improvements. It’s a glam affair as Alice attends her school prom…not before being given the full works in a makeover fit for a queen!

Here we are introduced to Alex Blunt, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was just five years old. As Alex tells her story, we hear about how she felt when she first found out, the treatment she received and how the whole experience has changed her life. From cuddly toys to certificates, Alex shows us some of the keepsake memories she has from her time in hospital, each one telling a different story!

We meet the shiny new team that will front the recently opened Oasis centre, a place where young adults can go to relax and escape the confines of hospital. With lots of exciting plans for the new centre and a fantastic team to make it all happen, the tropical paradise is set to be a raging success!

The day is off to a good start as Prince has a run in with Raph’s car alarm, a problem soon fixed thankfully and the guys are back on the road as they check out the site for their new recording studio, a project which has been well anticipated. After a positive meeting, work is well under way to get the studio up and running, which means only one thing…all work and no play! Well maybe a little bit…

In part 1 of Emma’s blog, we hear how tiredness is affecting her as she feels the results of her last lot of chemo, and follow her as she has a Pulmonary Function Test, a measure of how well the lungs take in and release air. Emma focuses on preparing for her nephew’s christening, which involves the making of some yummy looking caterpillar buns and a cheery looking family of ducks…soon to be eaten though! 11 days post chemo and Emma explains some of the tests and scans she has had to have, talking us through the plan for her next treatment…and remembering to take it easy!

Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at age 19, this is Jen’s story. After noticing unusual symptoms whilst studying at university, Jen made a visit to her GP and after a misdiagnosis of a chest infection, was diagnosed with cancer in February 2007. Amongst fun filled frolics on the beach accompanied by friends, Jen explains what it was like after she was first diagnosed, talking us through the treatment she received and her initial reaction to the situation. It’s holiday fever as we get a peek at footage from Jen’s family cruise trip…where dancing sailors are on the menu!

We catch up with Richard as he unveils his impressive photography to a crowd of friends, family and supporters at his recent photo exhibition. With the wine flowing amongst the guests (and providing Richard with some Dutch courage!) it’s a proud and emotional moment as he takes time to thank the people that have supported him over the years, enabling him to put on events such as the exhibition and continue with his passion for photography.

In this highly informative film, Sheffield provides a full rundown of the after care procedures taken for late effects of cancer, occurring months or years after treatment has finished and differing from symptoms seen during illness. Affecting both physical and mental health, late effects can cover a wide range of symptoms, varying in individual cases and depending on treatment formerly received. All issues covering late effects are covered, with a wide range of information on factors such as fertility, treatment, lifestyle changes and clinics available.

From hula hooping to trampolining, here we meet exercise mad Becky, who is receiving regular treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We follow Becky as she updates us on how radiotherapy is going, finishing with a party as she prepares to receive her last treatment, and where silly hairstyles are essential if you want to get in!

In preparation for some very important “high level networking” (and a lot of partying) in celebration of Leeds’ 10th anniversary taking place in June, we follow some of the gang as they visit Castle Howard, the wonderful venue for the event. After some hard work planning and plotting, it’s time for a nice cup of cocoa… demonstrated beautifully by the lovely Sue Morgan!

After seeing a bit of Emma previously, it’s time to get to know her better in this highly informative and honest film, charting her story so far. Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in October 2008 after a series of symptoms led her to the doctor, Emma thoroughly explains each stage of her diagnosis, talking us through the treatment she received and how important it is to remain strong and positive throughout. Emma also explains how beneficial the new unit has been, not only for its facilities, but also in allowing her to interact and relax with other patients in a similar situation.

It’s time for another sneaky peek at a brand new shiny ward as Leeds unveil their state of the art teenage unit, complete with a host of nifty features and stylish décor. From day case treatment units and therapy rooms to fun themed bathroom quarters, the new ward has just about everything you could wish for…shame that time never moves past quarter to three though…!

Diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the end of November, here we are introduced to 25-year-old Katie Mackintosh. As she prepares for her fourth cycle of chemo, Katie explains how she is feeling and the side effects that are taking place as a result of treatment. We follow Katie at each stage throughout the cycle, getting regular updates on how it’s going, starting with her feeling surprisingly well and in good spirits until side effects such as achiness and fatigue set in as the days progress. Katie demonstrates how important it is to make time to do normal things, ensuring that activities such as seeing friends and going out are top on the list, even managing a visit to Pizza Hut!

This latest instalment finds Claire arriving at her latest review appointment, before she heads off on a weekend away with her youth group to the seaside town of Ballycastle where the sun is shining, the sheep are baaing and Claire is feeling in good spirits…

Well they just keep getting better…! Prepare for another corker from the one, the only Mr. Pierre as he takes us on a lively tour of his radiotherapy session, accompanied by loyal companion and cameraman Bob, who, as always is obediently taking orders from his A List master. As our King of Comedy arrives at the hospital, the scene is one of quiet really, surprisingly lacking the usual crowd of paparazzi and adoring fans…with one exception, Nurse Alison, who by the looks of things, is a huge fan of Pierre’s…and definitely not anyone by the name of Peter! Cough cough…

We catch up with the one and only Prince as he prepares for his first gig in quite a while…and the nerves are already setting in! Reporting back afterwards, Prince is left feeling on a high as the crowd respond well and he even receives an offer from a record label to talk ‘business’…! Now at University, Prince gives us a tour of his new room, whilst friend Rafael patiently waits outside for him to get a move on in time for a very important meeting…the question is, what DOES Prince do in those extra 5 minutes? All suggestions welcome…

Whilst her old ward receives an extensive renovation, Shannon shows us round her new home in Ward 4, where she has been temporarily relocated. We get a sneaky preview of the refurbishment in question, which will be home to some exciting new features once it is finished.

Move over Lorraine Kelly, Shannon’s here with her very own chat show and first on the agenda is an interview with Fiona Bruce… not that Fiona Bruce though! Well equipped with the gift of the gab and a selection of quick fire questions to keep things interesting, Shannon proves herself to be quite the chat show host… watch this space!

Bringing you another fantastic workshop from the Royal Albert Hall, this time the focus is on music, from lyric writing to performing and a whole lot of fun in between! Taking inspiration from The Stereophonics, eagerly waiting to perform later on, the group are involved in every stage of the musical process, trying their hand at learning new skills, being creative and most of all, having a laugh doing it! As Gemma finishes her last radiotherapy session, she talks us through her maintenance program plan and also demonstrates how she is going to put her mask to good use now that she is finished with it…watch out on Halloween! Gemma gives us an insight into her life as she prepares to start maintenance treatment, starting by returning to her former routine of seeing friends and family and making time for socialising. The dogs and bikes are out as Gemma heads off on a walk with her family, standing firmly on the watching side of the track as her Dad and brother speed off into the distance, leaving Gemma to round up the dogs! With maintenance treatment well under way, Gemma gives us an update of how things are going, with a few hiccups to contend with…but still remaining in good spirits!

Exploring and experimenting with the idea of cells and the artistic qualities they possess, this film documents an art session, part of a series of creative art workshops that recently took place at the Royal Albert Hall. The workshop, which aimed to look at the different characters behind cells, from ‘happy’ ones to ‘super heroes’ and how this can be portrayed through the artistic medium, encouraged young adults to look more closely at the perception of the body, gaining inspiration from a series of images and their own creative experimentation…with some fantastic results!

In this highly informative film, we follow Gemma as she receives an Intrathecal injection, otherwise known as a Lumbar Puncture. Used to inject chemotherapy into the cerebrospinal fluid, where cancer cells can sometimes pass, the Intrathecal can travel where other forms of chemotherapy cannot, ensuring that these cancerous cells are treated effectively. Gemma talks us through the process of receiving a Lumbar Puncture, providing her own thoughts on the experience and explains how it’s not quite as painful as it looks!

Far away, out of sight of hospital, machines and other patients is a magical place…a place that Cambridge’s young adults will be seeing a lot more of as the brand new “Oasis” centre is revealed…and a tropical Oasis it certainly is! Designed as an interim solution until the new teenage unit is built, the centre provides a wonderful and contemporary haven for teenagers to relax in, interact with other young patients and most importantly, be transported away from the confines of hospital. With a host of impressive facilities, including a wipe clean wall for plenty of fun filled doodles, a light up jukebox and every games console you could wish for, Cambridge certainly won’t run out of ideas to have fun! Not only does the centre provide a hang out for patients, it is fully equipped with facilities for friends and family and even comes with a tropical themed complementary therapy room to really transport patients to paradise…all that’s missing now is the sunshine!

After her first film “Flying Pink Ponies”, Gemma makes a return to Jimmyteens with a diary of her radiotherapy sessions, of which she will be receiving twelve in total. Gemma reports back after her first treatment, explaining some of the side effects of receiving radiotherapy and provides regular updates of how she is feeling as the sessions go on.

Ding ding! Boxing gloves at the ready as Birmingham prepare for their very own charity boxing match, with celebrity chef Glynn Purnell taking centre stage in the ring. With funds raised going to the Teenage Cancer Trust, it’s time for the young people of Birmingham to test their skills against the real boxers…and there’s only one way to do it…on the Wii of course!

Part 4 of Claire’s video blog finds her on the second day of her Youth Work course, explaining how strange it feels to be studying again after being away from it for a year and a half…and having to complete homework again! Despite the workload, Claire really enjoys herself and even has time in her busy schedule to organise a coffee morning, in aid of Clic Sargent and NICFC. With the event well under way and an abundance of yummy cakes being consumed, the morning proves to be a real winner, raising over £4,700 for her chosen charities and filling some hungry bellies!

We get a sneaky peek inside the Royal Hospital for sick children, located in Edinburgh. With the help of Shannon McKenzies, first up is a tour around Ward Two, where everything from the kitchen to Shannon’s very pink bedroom quarters are explored…and not forgetting Charlie the blood pressure machine!

It’s a glitzy affair as Leeds gather together at the Royal Armouries to raise money for a very beneficial cause. Alex Dawson’s brother, Pat, talks about the reason behind the ball, drawing on his own experience of losing a loved one and explaining that as a result of the evening, he hopes to be able to offer other siblings in the same situation the chance to make wonderful memories. As the night progresses, the partying starts, which means two things…renditions of the Sheila’s Wheels tune and helium filled fun!

In this highly insightful and informative film, the teenage and young adult cancer patients of Southampton General Hospital talk us through the design process of the new cancer care ward, focusing on four main elements; privacy, choice, comfort and entertainment. After carrying out extensive research, the group talk us through their findings, highlighting the factors that would considerably improve the experience of being in hospital and aid recovery for young adult patients.

It’s time for Leeds to strut their stuff at the Royal Albert Hall as the group get the chance to make some music magic backstage. After a tinkle or two on the instruments, the gang watch a selection of bands play…all in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. Back on the train, we catch up with the Leeds lot as they talk about their highlights of such a music filled day…meeting Duffy being top on the list!

In this highly informative and insightful film, charting the procedures taken after surgery for Osteosarcoma, Alex has his leg lengthened. Checking up on his measurements, as well as the tightness of his muscles, Alex explains how his passion for sport has suffered due to his leg and only light exercise is possible. Alex’s twin brother explains how in the beginning, he too, experienced the same pains, but in the other leg, proving that twins really can mirror each other! After receiving alterations on his leg, Alex finds the difference strange to get used to. With the support of his Dad and brother however, along with plenty of laughs, Alex manages to keep smiling throughout.

Standing proudly on stage at none other than the Royal Albert Hall, Prince and Anthony wow the crowd with their combined musical talents, rounding off proceedings with an upbeat performance and introducing some extra guests on stage with them…. all whilst raising money for charity!

After a temperature spike finds Claire back in hospital, she waits on test results to see if she has contracted an infection and unfortunately, has to be put on antibiotics again. After a few days of taking it easy, luckily, Claire steers clear of any infections and is told she can return home, where she completes a momentous moment in her journey as she finally has her line removed.

After finishing treatment, Anthony and his brother thought it would be a good idea to take a Christmas trip to Switzerland…and here’s what happened! First stop, a hot meal and a cold beer, unpacking can wait until later…. Nicely refreshed and ready to do some sight seeing, we follow Anthony and his brother as they stroll the streets, stopping to marvel at the array of wonderfully unusual sights on offer…. and generally having a laugh. Cheers!

In part two of Alice’s video diary, charting her progress as she prepares to get back into her previous routine, she endures more physio (complete with bunny ears!) and introduces us to her personal home tutor who will help make the transition back into education easier for Alice. With the ongoing physio going well and making time to see friends, Alice shows everyone she just keeps improving!

After receiving treatment for a brain tumour, we catch up with Alice as she finally gets back into things, starting with a game of Scrabble to keep her mind ticking! We follow Alice as she completes some hard physio sessions, building up the strength in her muscles and working tirelessly to walk on her own again. Alice surprises everyone when she achieves some fantastic results in another of her physio sessions…followed by a suitable celebration!

As we get a close look at the bundles of fun encountered, from chalet chuckles to intense games of ‘Scattergories’, a selection of the Cambridge gang drop by to talk to the camera about their experiences over the weekend and their favourite moments so far.

Claire’s latest instalment finds her celebrating, surrounded by family and friends for two special occasions…Christmas and her recent fantastic scan results. After a quiet new year, Claire explains how she is getting back into things again, including her youth work, Sunday school…and baking of course! We follow Claire as she completes her weekly routine of having her line flushed at the local health centre, four months post transplant now and already teaching again!

This is sixteen year old Amy Bowyer’s story, as we hear how a series of biopsies of a tumour behind her nose led to the diagnosis of Burkitt’s Lymphoma in July. Treated in Southampton Hospital, Amy explains how grateful she was to be looked after by such pleasant and positive staff and how this made a difference in helping her to get through it all. As well as telling her own story, Amy offers some sound advice to other teenagers, her main tip being not to worry too much or think too far ahead and despite the side effects of treatments, remain positive. Amy explains how hard it was to lose her hair, but after discovering the wonders of a top class celebrity hairdresser, recommends visiting Trevor Sorbie for a wig makeover! Moving on now and planning her ‘Make A Wish’ treat, Amy takes time to thank some of the people who made her journey a lot easier, including the CLIC Sargent team in Southampton and her friends and family, who were always at hand to put a smile on her face.

In celebration of the brand new Cardiff TCT unit opening in March, we get full coverage of the unveiling to patients, staff, families and fundraisers. The state of the art unit, complete with all the facilities a young person could wish for, including plasma television screens, digital lighting systems and space for friends and family to stay, is the result of years of fundraising by The Teenage Cancer Trust and supporters across the country…and it’s certainly paid off! The magnificently modern unit will make an incredible difference to 15-24 year olds being treated, equipping them with all the facilities teenagers require and surrounding them in a far more pleasing environment with other people their age to relate and talk to.

All aboard the TCT train as it makes its way into the platform, celebrating the opening of the brand new TCT unit at Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales. Suitably decked out in just the right shade of blue and sporting the charity’s logo, the “Teenage Spirit” is most definitely the snazziest train in the station…. even Peter Barlow seems to think so!

Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in March 2007 and given the all clear six months later, this is Ed’s journey as he aims to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats, an intense 990 mile challenge, accompanied by his father and friends. With proceeds going to The Teenage Cancer Trust, The Lymphoma Association and The Claire Sadler Trust, three charities that played a significant part in Ed’s fight, his main drive was to give something back to the cause and help thousands of other sufferers still battling with cancer. We get full coverage of the ride, with a series of photos and video footage plotting their progress, starting from the beginning, right until the momentous moment when the “Lymphomaniacs” reach the end of their incredible journey, raising £24,000 in the process!

This latest video instalment finds Claire 18 days post transplant and preparing for various tests. After having a few days of being particularly ill, feeling both physically and mentally exhausted, Claire begins to perk up again and expresses her relief on having more energy. After being told by doctors she is allowed out of hospital for a little bit, Claire looks forward to all the home comforts she has missed, food being a main factor! The good old drip is still providing its usual sound effects, unfortunately it only plays one tune…. and a bad one at that! Disappointingly, Claire contracts an infection, which means more antibiotics and delaying her visit back home. Luckily, after various check ups, Claire starts to feel better, finally getting her much deserved time at home and some fantastic news.

Part two of Tom Green’s talk, explaining the personal ailments he has faced after receiving neurology treatment for two brain tumours, sees him talking about a host of factors, including his education process, the attitudes of various doctors and consultants he has come across and the methods of their work. With his personal experiences of the long-term consequences associated with receiving treatment, Tom provides eye-opening and insightful information for fellow brain tumour patients and medical professionals.

A highly informative talk from the Brain Tumour Conference in April 2008, by a former teenage cancer patient, Tom Green, who was treated for two brain tumours when he was just seventeen. Drawing on his own experiences, Tom explains the effects, physically and psycho socially, having a brain tumour can bring upon the patient, talking through the various challenges and physical limitations he faces on a daily basis after the high volume of aggressive treatment he endured.

It’s a suitably regal affair as Leeds are welcomed with open arms through the majestic doors of Castle Howard, complete with roaring fire and more Christmas trees than you could wish for! Before retiring to the drawing room for a spot of tea and cucumber sandwiches, the group get a tour of the beautiful house, stopping to talk to Becky Howard, patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at St James’s who, along with her husband Simon, have kindly invited the gang from 10T along for tea and scones…and it doesn’t stop there, there’s even chocolate cake and mince pies for the journey home!

In the second part of Claire’s video diary, charting her days in hospital, she explains more of her treatment progress, the different drugs she has to have and her grueling routine. We get views of Belfast, day and night, as Claire gives us an idea of her surroundings and explains how interesting it is to see the changes take place around her. Talking about how much her diagnosis has changed her life, despite the hardships of treatment, Claire talks about how important it is to pick yourself up again and keep going with things. As well as her friends and family, Claire explains how her religion has helped her overcome her fears and get through a very difficult time in her life, knowing that there is always someone looking out for her. Even whilst having treatment, Claire managed to complete her education and make time for social events, processes that helped her regain normality and in her words, not let cancer take over her life.

Here we meet 22 year old Claire Henderson who, after finding a lump in her groin in early 2007, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. As Claire tells her story, we learn about her daily routine in hospital, how she felt when she was diagnosed and the various procedures she has to go through, including regular temperature checks…when the machine decides to work! Claire talks about the side effects of treatment, including sickness, hair loss and tiredness, giving some good advice on how to stay positive, saying how important it is to keep in touch with friends and have as much fun as possible. After contracting pneumonia during treatment, Claire explains the many tests she had to have, as well as having a Hickman line fitted, which Claire benefits from greatly when having treatment.

Here we meet 22 year old Andrea, whose life was turned upside down when a series of health worries led to the unexpected diagnosis of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, soon after her marriage to husband John. Talking us through the early stages of her treatment, Andrea explains how her three year old daughter, Faith, plus the added support of her family, gave her the strength and courage to carry on fighting. After nervously waiting on a series of test results, Andrea talks about having chemotherapy and experiencing the side effects of treatment, explaining how difficult it was to face the prospect of losing all her hair. As well as the physical difficulties of chemo, Andrea talks about how emotional it was to see Faith react to the situation, especially not being able to see her as much in the beginning.

This latest instalment finds Matt in hospital, waiting to have a blood transfusion and introducing us to some of the nurses who treat him. After a much needed boost, Matt gets some fresh air with family on a walk, where his brother, William, plays camera man for the day and by the looks of things, prefers it that way! Back in hospital, Matt prepares to have a mask fitted for radiotherapy and talks us through the procedure, which he very bravely demonstrates. After making sure the mask is correctly fitted, Matt gets a look at a radiotherapy machine and finds out how it works in preparation for his own treatment, finding himself a new career as a radiographer!

For all that have followed Alice’s incredible journey, from her very first video to the recent memorable Halloween party, plus all the amazing achievements in between, these are truly Alice’s best bits. With a smile on her face that never once faded and a courageous attitude that conquered the hardest of situations, this video simply highlights the miraculous life she led, showing her journey over the last two and a half years and reliving all the wonderful memories we will never forget.

The cobwebs are out, the witches hats are securely on (and not burnt this time round!) as Alice celebrates with another party surrounded by her friends…but where’s Sarah? As Alice ponders upon this thought, she gets more than she bargained for with the shocking arrival of a surprise guest, whose choice of transport is certainly not conventional! With a bit of a fright but plenty of smiles, Alice has a very happy and memorable night, which comes as a welcome break from her ongoing pain and treatment. It’s baby fever as Alice cuddles up with cousin Ollie, who already seems to be at ease with the camera, even managing a little dance for us!

We catch up with Matt as he attends the Children’s Brain Tumour Family Open Day, where he finds out everything there is to know about situations just like his own. Matt also learns lots of interesting new facts with the help of some of the professionals on hand to talk to him, which soon results in the modelling of a pair of very fetching pink goggles! It’s not all about learning however; Matt also tries his hand at plate spinning, with mixed success!

It’s a dazzling night of sparkles, glitter and fundraising as Luisa talks us through the wonderful ball she has organised, in aid of three very special charities, The Anthony Nolan Trust, Clic Sargent and the Teenage Cancer Trust. Talking about her own diagnosis of Leukaemia when she was just 12 and then a relapse at the age of 15, Luisa explains how she wants to help other young people in the same position as her two and a half years ago by raising lots of money for the three charities extremely close to her heart.

Starting with ‘You, Me and Cancer’, a documentary made by three young cancer patients, sharing their experiences and how their lives have changed, the story of how Jimmyteens grew to be the roaring success it is now is one with much progression…After the success of the documentary, as part of the BBC One Life series, the powerful and emotional film, “To Courtney, With Love” was made, which was met with incredible feedback, bringing in the biggest audience of any One Life film. This amazing footage sparked the idea of giving cameras to young people with cancer, so, like Becky’s sister, Vicky, they could talk about how they were feeling, gain comfort from talking and in the process, help other cancer patients too. With support from individuals and charities all around and TCT as its main sponsor, the website was born, a wide variety of films were made, from animations to documentaries and the rest, they say, is history!

It’s all fun and games as Marisha and John take us on their trip to Alton Towers, where the laughing starts on the bus and continues all through the day. In Matthew’s latest instalment, we find him in a bit of a rush, ready to head to the hospital for more treatment…not before a spot of lunch however! Matthew talks about what to expect when having chemo, explaining how, despite the sickness and fatigue, he got used to it after a while. Afterwards, Matthew has a nice stroll in the park and in true Christmas spirit, manages to spot a reindeer!

This latest instalment finds Mr. Peter a little bunged up to say the least…and nothing seems to be loosening things up! With the help of Nurse Sue and a bevy of remedies, will Mr. Peter finally get his flow back? A hearty portion of prunes should do the trick, or failing that, something a little stronger!

Diagnosed when he was just 6, this is Matthew’s story. Starting with lots of headaches, he explains some of the side effects of being poorly, showcasing some very impressive sound effects to go with it. Despite feeling ill and having to face more radiotherapy, Matthew manages to look on the bright side of things…lots of time off school! Now older, Matthew explains how he understands his situation and the procedures which are taking place better than when he was younger. Proving himself as a great presenter and with all those “do-be-do’s”, Matthew is definitely giving Mr. Peter a run for his money!

It’s a busy time for Alice as she prepares for various up and coming events, including a charity ball, in aid of her cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma. Chemo is delayed so Alice can complete her packed social diary and feel in good spirits whilst doing so, however the pain soon becomes too much to bear. The day of the ball arrives, the fancy frocks are on, the champagne is waiting… and after a lot of hard work, all goes to plan and a wonderful night is had by all. With the generosity and effort of everyone, over £5,000 is raised for the research appeal, dedicated to supporting new scientific findings and maintaining and improving necessary treatments. Despite being in a great deal of pain, Alice keeps going, even if she has to contend with annoying pain relief machines!

Alice’s 18th has finally come, which means only one thing in the Bullock household…a party! Cue jazzy candles, music and lots of cake as she celebrates surrounded by friends and family. Post party and now an official adult, Alice reminisces on her childhood, looking through old photo albums, from sitting on Santa’s knee to her first day at school…and displaying some interesting outfit choices! Feeling tired and energy less, Alice explains how frustrating it is not being able to do anything without feeling worn out, a problem soon helped by having one very large blood transfusion!

Missing Hollyoaks so he can make a guest appearance at the conference is Allan Pacey, talking all about fertility, how cancer can affect it and what other options and help there are available. With a host of facts and figures concerning pregnancy and why problems with fertility after treatment can occur, Allan answers, in a clear and understandable way, all those questions you wanted the answers to but never knew where to find them.

It wouldn’t be right without a Mickey J inspired act taking to the floor…and Liverpool certainly see to that! Their “thrilling” dance routine, polished and primed, leaves the crowd wanting more!

Next up, Sheffield, under the name of “Chomp” with their banging version of “We Will Rock You” and displaying some inventive costume choices!

Its Manchester’s turn next with their unique version of “Living on a Prayer”, which soon gets the crowd going and those voices warmed up!

The pom pom’s are out as Newcastle take to the stage with their cheerleading inspired version of “Mickey”. Give me an N, give me an E….!
